Why “Possession Sound”?
Possession Sound and Port Gardner Bay
The Seattle area abounds with references to Puget Sound. Most people do not know that there is a Possession Sound, let alone where it is located.
When exploring the region for King and Country, George Vancouver named the body of water between modern-day Whidbey County and Snohomish County “Possession Sound.” It serves to locate a business in the same area that is home to Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Naval Station Everett.
